The Fishy Chronicles Earth Duology Book 1: Fishy Story

Chapter 1- Trapped!

On 18 September 2018, in the First Earth, Fishy Bigspike, an unordinary baby guppy, was born. He was a blue guppy, as big as an Australian Goldfish and had a bony structure that resembled spikes. Fishy Bigspike was born on a Sunday and lived in the middle of Fish Lake. One day, a tall, aged man in a lab coat, found Fish Lake. He spied on Fishy Bigspike and tried to catch Fishy Bigspike with his gigantic net. Fishy Bigspike was faster than expected and did not want to wait for a fate that he could not control. He desperately swam as if there was no tomorrow. But the man in the lab coat jumped onto a boat and searched for more guppies. Before Fishy Bigspike could warn the other guppies, he realised that there was now an enormous net just beneath the boat. The net was quickly engulfing everything in its path, including Fishy Bigspike and the other guppies. There was simply no way to escape!

Fishy Bigspike swam as fast as his average fins allowed him to zoom through the water fast, but it was no use. Fishy Bigspike was instantly caught and packed into white sterile Styrofoam boxes and shipped back to the Singapore Marine Laboratory. His mind was blank. He waited anxiously to see what was in store for him.

After what felt like forever, Fishy Bigspike was scooped out of the box and transferred into a gigantic rectangular fish tank. The water was cool but Fishy Bigspike felt scared as there were many bigger fishes in the tank. Fishy Bigspike stayed in the corner of the tank, observing the other fishes. Then suddenly, a net with a steel holder dipped into the fish tank. It was aimed at a group of fishes and scooped them up. The fishes were placed on an aluminium tray and left on the stainless steel table beside the tank. The fishes were not in the water! They were dying. They couldn’t live.  The man in the lab with a coat, cautiously approached the table. (He wanted to make Fishy Bigspike powerful for his own ends, but he messed with the wrong fish.) He picked up one fish and held it in front of him. He smiled to himself and said, “You’re in for a treat. A nice sweet treat!” He then injected slime into the great fish with an extremely fine needle, and waited. Time seemed to have slowed down. Fishy Bigspike too, held his breath as he saw the fish swell up and burst before his eyes. His heart almost came to a halt. 

Finally, it was Fishy Bigspike’s turn. The man in the Lab coat injected three suspicious power liquids into Fishy Bigspike; strength liquid, intelligence liquid and overpowering liquid. What would become of Fishy Bigspike? 

Fishy Bigspike’s eyes swelled like melons, his tail turned black and slimy, his fins became longer and thinner, his spikes started to grow larger, he became 4 times longer, the color of his skin turned darker blue, his snout became a big spike and it felt like a dagger was piercing through his heart. The man then bent the dagger with his bare hands. The pain was excruciating. Fishy Bigspike felt like he could no longer bear it and then there was silence. It was as if Fishy Bigspike’s life was over.

Chapter 2- The Great Escape

To his surprise however, he woke up in a large tank with another huge fish who had survived a different ordeal. It had a huge mouth with eight rows of razor sharp teeth and milky white eyes. It immediately charged towards Fishy Bigspike and tried to chomp down on Fishy Bigspike’s tender meat with his teeth. Fishy Bigspike dodged instantly and unexpectedly started sending a barrage of spikes at the shark-eel creature. The spikes bombarded the huge fish’s head which annihilated the creature. The man in the white lab coat was furious and wanted to test Fishy Bigspike’s “ strength ‘’, but he had made a huge mistake. Fishy Bigspike had defeated one of his experiments. He grinned in a sinister way and put Fishy Bigspike in a tank with a puny vegan shark and a lizard with a helmet and a suspicious looking grey-coloured bag. To the scientist’s dismay, Fishy Bigspike did not fight with the other two creatures. Instead he observed that they seemed to get along. The lizard then took out a translator from its bag and typed a note that read, “Hello, my name is Homework.” Fishy Bigspike read the note and waved back. The shark took the translator and wrote down another note. It read, “Hello my name is Sharky Finns.” The three of them decided to become a team and break out of the tank. Homework told them that he had a plan. He shared that he could use Sharky’s strength to bash down the wall of the tank. But Sharky and Fishy Bigspike were hesitant about this as they could not survive without water. Instead, Homework grabbed two helmets from his bag and passed them to Sharky and Fishy Bigspike. These were oxygen filled helmets with water and both Fish and Sharky could survive outside water for eight hours. 

With that, Sharky slammed his body onto the wall of the great white tank. The first attempt caused small cracks and his second attempt intensified the cracks. Before they knew it, water and power liquid gushed out of the tank onto the man with the lab coat as he was standing in front of the tank. The man tried to catch Fishy Bigspike, Sharky and Homework but alas, he was too slow. Homework grabbed a jetpack and together with Fishy Bigspike and Sharky, he escaped the tank. Using the jetpack, the three of them flew into the sky and crashed into the moon! Little did they know, a plethora of predators was lurking in the Asteroid Belt just above them.

As they made their way to the ocean, a few mighty space seagulls swooped down  from Heaven and started attacking them. It seemed like God wanted to catch Fishy Bigspike and his sweltering friends because he wanted the power liquid in them. Fishy Bigspike removed his helmet, using his shape shifting superpowers, he turned himself into a machine gun . He started shooting a barrage of shiny titanium bullets and they pelted down onto the seagulls. Some seagulls fell into their despicable demise. Demise devoured  the seagulls and sent them to Hell, where they were tortured, while the other seagulls tried dodging the bullets but to no avail. It was the first victory of Fishy Bigspike! But he was determined to keep his power liquid to himself! Fishy Bigspike transformed back into his normal form. Sharky and Homework congratulated him on doing well in defeating the seagulls.

With the help of their jetpacks, they eventually made it back to the ocean. The three celebrated. Sharky and Fishy Bigspike removed their helmets and the three friends of Fishy Bigspike ( Yes, our main character practised self-love :) ) made a new home in the middle of the Indian Ocean and went to sleep.  

Chapter 3- The skeletons

The very next day, Fishy Bigspike, Sharky and Homework explored their “home”. There was a huge variety of fishes; fluorescent ones, electric ones and even the smallest, tiniest, littlest fish, so small that Fishy Bigspike could not stop staring at it. Why? It had a unique feature. It had a sharp white spike on the top of its head. 

Suddenly, that small fish let out an ear piercing scream. It was so high pitched that it made Fishy Bigspike’s eyes bleed a little. Trillions of tiny little fish started coming together, heralded by the call of their friend. They started forming a gigantic school, like bees attracted to nectar, the little fishes seemed provoked by the presence of Fishy Bigspike. They charged towards him and billions of spikes flew straight at Fishy Bigspike and penetrated his smooth skin. Blood oozed out from all sides of his body and the dagger fell out of Fishy Bigspike’s body. The entire Universe shook due to the impact. The pain was excruciating and Fishy Bigspike grimaced in agony. Just then, some of the tiny fish began to melt after touching Fishy Bigspike’s acidic blood. Meanwhile, the tiny fishes melted into dust and squealed in terror as their little bodies began to fade away into nothingness. Fishy Bigspike too was nowhere to be found. Homework turned around only to find Fishy Bigspike hiding behind him. What a surprise he had! The spikes of the little fishes had pierced him so deeply that in his effort to withstand the pain, it caused Fishy Bigspike to break the laws of physics and he launched himself behind Homework. 

Homework clearly sensed that they were not welcomed in this part of the ocean. He then took out a bunch of metal scraps and started making a mini-teleportation machine. Homework decided to teleport about 8,084 kilometres north-east. He used the magic remote and activated the portal. All three of them were sucked into a space portal without knowing exactly where they were going. Sharky kept his fins crossed and hoped for the best. Fishy Bigspike transformed into a glowing ball of light and it helped Sharky and Homework navigate the new uncharted waters they were engulfed in. They finally arrived at the deepest part of the ocean, the Mariana Trench. They were 11 kilometres deep into the ocean, and they heard screeches that sounded nearby. They looked around and discovered the skeletons of mutated salmon. There were ten such skeletons. The screeching sounds suddenly came to a halt. The silence was deadly. This was when they spied the corpse of a half-torn mutated salmon. It looked like it was recently killed as its blood was still flowing out of it. Fishy Bigspike became terrified. What would happen to them? The thought of impending Demise bombarded Fishy Bigspike’s mind. 

A glowing ball of light shone from a dark ominous corner. The light grew brighter and brighter. The light began to shift left and then to the right. Fishy Bigspike was attracted to the light. It was mesmerising. The light was accompanied by a colossal arm that was about to crush Fishy Bigspike into smithereens. Sharky came to his rescue and bit the arm hard. The arm started shaking erratically and blood oozed out from the wound. Sharky bit harder and pierced fifty-eight rows of razor-sharp saw-like teeth deep into the beast’s arm. The scent of the oozing blood caused hundreds of other sharks to be lured to the scene. Now it was a battle for real!!!

A mysterious Axolotl-humanoid in Demise’s service used one of its arms and attempted to hit the other sharks. Lizzy realised that they were now facing a threat millions of times beyond expectation. Fishy Bigspike made a soft squeal.

 Chapter 4- Fishy Bigspike, fight!

Unexpectedly, a humongous fish resembling Fishy Bigspike in some way but without pectoral fins, slammed into the Axolotl-humanoid. This was their only chance to escape! Lizzy swiftly took out the teleporter that he had created moments ago and instructed Sharky and Fishy Bigspike to enter the machine.

As the three puny animals exited the teleporter, they had realised they had teleported to a scorching hot desert which had an average temperature of 200 degrees Celsius. Lizzy then grabbed helmets containing water from the previous day. After that, they then proceeded to continue their epic journey of finding a place they could live. Suddenly, a fish-like creature that resembled a fish with a cone as a head from earlier burst out of the ground. It then proceeded to strike Fishy Bigspike but Fishy Bigspike snapped its razor-sharp thorny cone and revealed its horrific face. It had fleshy tentacles and a few thousand teeth whose purpose was to tear off internal organs.

Fishy Bigspike then noticed a few hundred more spiky cone-head “fish” coming their way. Without hesitation, Homework used his magical remote control to get rid of the swarm of “fish”. However, no matter how many of these “fish” (actually molluscs) Homework shot down, there always seemed to be useless as there was a seemingly infinite amount of them. Just then, Sharky pounced and slaughtered several dozen Spiky-Conefish with one blow. Sharky then proceeded to eliminate another few thousand of them. Suddenly, a pack of ferocious humongous snake-crocodilian reptiles burst out of the sand. The reptiles wolfed down most of the Spiky-Conefish down and tried to lunge at the three puny friends but they narrowly escaped and caused one of the reptilian creatures to collide with a rock and get knocked-out cold. Fishy Bigspike then slapped another one with his fin. Its head was hit so devastatingly that it exploded and chunks of flesh and bone were splattered all over the desert. This was caused by a few men, who were paid by the mad scientist from Chapter 1 to hunt the trio down, and capture them for further experimentation and torture. Meanwhile, homework used his magical remote controller to dismantle yet another gargantuan reptilian creature. Its remaining parts were obliterated by Sharky’s laser eyes. Sharky removed his helmet and chowed down on one of the surviving creatures, killing it instantly before placing the helmet back on his head. The remaining reptilian creatures slithered away, traumatised by what they had witnessed.

In the horizon, Fishy Bigspike noticed a few motorcyclists were heading for them. They had awkward gadgets and had a few bags that looked like a jumbo-sized version of Homework’s bag. As the men came closer, Homework realised their intentions and clicked on a button on both Fishy Bigspike and Sharky’s helmets. This caused both of the helmets to turn into a fish bowl. These fish bowls could roll around if Fishy Bigspike and Sharky pushed them slightly. Homework clicked on a button in his magical remote control and the remote control turned into a mechanical suit, which had a glare that blinded most of the motorcyclists.

Homework ordered Sharky and Fishy Bigspike to follow him. As the three tiny friends scurried for their lives to escape from the last motorcyclist, a grappling hook almost latched onto Sharky’s bowl. 

Chapter 5- An important quest

Sharky lost control of his movement and was almost caught by the motorcyclists but Homework used the suit’s powers to save Sharky. Then, the hunter unexpectedly went away as if he retreated and gave up on capturing them. However, what seemed like an unexpected victory was actually a trick to let their guards down and perform a surprise attack on them. As the three creatures explored the area further in an attempt to leave it, the motorcyclist secretly set a bombardment of grenades upon them. The bombardment killed Sharky, who was already severely weakened from battle. Bye Sharky! I’m sure God will send you back to Earth, that is if you went to Heaven. Sharky went to Heaven, but Fishy Bigspike and Homework mourned the loss of their dear friend.

And so the quest to bring Sharky back to Earth almost began. However, a more important quest would soon prevail. A quest to prevent the colonisation of the Americas after witnessing the brutality of the Conquistadors who pillaged and conquered the Bahamas in the blink of an eye by going back in time.

Homework and Fishy Bigspike pit Spain and Portugal against each other. They caused civil war in the Netherlands, and European nations took sides. As more countries joined in, the continent was in flames. Portugal teamed up with Britain, its longtime ally. Portugal annexed Galicia as Britain used its powerful navy to attack Spain from the south. Within days, Portugal and Britain captured Asturias and Andalusia. 

France sent troops to Castile and Leon, launching a surprise offensive into Portugal. Portuguese troops withdraw from Galicia, which is immediately brought back under Franco - Spanish control as a result. However, just as the offensive into Portugal begins and Franco-Spanish forces lay siege to Oporto, divisions between the French and Spanish armies occur, as they fight for dominance in Iberia. The Spanish army demands full control over Castile and Leon, Galicia and Andorra.

Meanwhile, Britain annexes Murcia and Extremadura easily due to the tension between the armies of France and Spain, which soon spreads to the governments of France and Spain. France withdraws its troops from Spain but continues to keep Andorra, while leaving the war against Portugal and Britain. By now, the war had been raging for a year and it was taking its toll on both sides. Spain was granted peace, but as a result it would lose all of its territory excluding Basque Country, La Rioja, Navarre, Aragon and Catalonia. Navarre and Basque Country would join before seceding from Spain to form the Basque Republic. Catalonia would also secede from Spain to form the Republic of Catalonia. La Rioja then joined Portuguese Castile and Leon, angering the Basque Republic, which waged a war against Portugal. Britain teamed up with Portugal and Spain to defeat the Basque Republic. The territory formerly known as Basque Country was carved up between Britain and Portugal, while the territory formerly known as Navarre went to Spain. However, the Provincial Parliament of Navarre, for economic reasons, voted to join France, which cedes Andorra to Spain.

Aragonese nationalists take over Aragon and proclaim the Kingdom of Aragon, expelling the Spanish government and monarchy from the new nation. 

Chapter 6- Stability in Spain and the Rise of Belgium 

The Spanish government and monarchy flee to Andorra, where the Kingdom of Andorra is established, with the king of Spain at the time founding the Andorran monarchy, and crowning himself as the first King of Andorra, who was the head of state of the new nation. A few months later, Andorra became a French protectorate, internationally recognised as a semi-independent state.

Meanwhile, happy from its victories, Portugal changed its name to Iberia, with the original Portuguese provinces being collectively called Portugal. The city of Madrid, the former Spanish capital, had come under Portuguese rule and was renamed to New Portugiberia. The Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland renamed its nation to: The United Kingdom of Great Britain, Northern Ireland and New Britain ( Iberia under British rule ).

In the Kingdom of Aragon, Zaragoza became the capital, and Aragonese was designated as the Cultural Language of the Kingdom of Aragon in 1493. English, Spanish, Portuguese and French were designated as economic languages in Aragon and Andorra. Inspired by Aragon’s idea of a cultural language, the Parliament of Andorra elected its own cultural language- Catalan, a major language in neighbouring Catalonia. This paved the way for a good relationship between Andorra and Catalonia.

This whole time, in the Netherlands, the people who lived in the region called Belgium in the south of the country a.k.a Belgians, were revolting, claiming Luxembourg. The rebellion was quelled repeatedly, but revolts continued, so France, Portugal and Britain agreed on the creation of an independent state called the Kingdom of Belgium in 1494. In real life, the Kingdom of Belgium was only created in 1830, but in this story, it happened 336 years earlier due to Fishy Bigspike and Homework! In 1495, the Belgians discovered  through an angel that Fishy Bigspike and Homework were responsible for the success of their nation by swallowing all Dutch government buildings, barracks, army camps, training offices, recruitment offices, armories, weapon storage facilities and the entire Dutch army and then spitting them out as Belgian. 

The angel revealed to them that Fishy Bigspike and Homework were made the patron saints of Belgium.

Chapter 7- Disaster!

Homework and Fishy Bigspike had completed their first quest. Their next quest was to get back Sharky Finns!

To get back their best friend, Homework and Fishy Bigspike devised an ingenious plan to sneak into Heaven. They would simply teleport! And so began the work of building a teleportation machine. The entire process was over in a minute and Homework and Fishy Bigspike teleported straight to Sharky Finns! It was a huge success, and the three friends were reunited in the clouds! What a glorious moment!

However, Zeus was soon alerted of this. He was enraged at the theft, and he began chasing the three friends. He chased them out of Heaven, but since they had teleported there, they ended up in Brussels, whereas Zeus automatically ended up in Mount Olympus, his earthly abode.

Fishy Bigspike’s glorious days on Earth would not last long for the lab was hunting him down again, After receiving intel that he was in Brussels, the evil lab man sent a ship to track down Fishy Bigspike for future experiments. The lab’s transport machine arrived in Brussels, just half a kilometre away from Fishy Bigspike’s exact whereabouts.

Sensing danger, Fishy Bigspike attacked the men using super strength, but  They gripped him strongly and shot his oxygen tank, causing him to lose consciousness. However, they quickly placed him in a tank and loaded him onto a ship before sailing off to Belgian Shanghai. Fishy Bigspike’s friends had lost him! Oh no!

Homework and Sharky were determined to find their friend, so they launched a tiny tracking device into the ship that carried Fishy Bigspike using a good old-fashioned catapult. The tracking device showed Homework and Sharky that Fishy Bigspike was in Belgian Shanghai. Homework and Sharky teleported there, and they admired its cultural landscape, taking we-fies in front of the famed Oriental Pearl Tower. The search for Fishy Bigspike was on. The tracking device led them to the famed Shanghai State Laboratory, where Fishy Bigspike was imprisoned in a huge glass tank filled with liquid mercury. Fishy Bigspike only had 2 hours to live, so Homework and Sharky, skillfully moved through lasers and destroyed booby traps. They sneakily set up decoys to prevent the enemy from tracking them.

However, Homework was punished by a powerful alliance formed by God, Poseidon and thousands of angels, prophets, saints, demigods and heavenly creatures while he was trying to save his friend Fishy Bigspike. The alliance, known as the Holy Alliance banished him to hell for assassinating Julius Caesar, and Sharky became the King of Belgium for trying to save Caesar’s life. ( Lizzy and Sharky had gone back in time to Ancient Greece and had had a fun adventure prior to this. )  As the king of Belgium, Sharky made the weather conditions the same throughout the Earth Belgian in every way that he could think of. He was so engrossed in making these changes that he forgot about saving Fishy Bigspike for a whole hour. By the time Sharky made it back to the path to save Fishy Bigspike, the entrance had closed up.

Chapter 8- The Rise of Fishy Bigspike

It would take another 1.5 hours to save Fishy Bigspike so the Holy Alliance tried to help, but to no avail, so Fishy Bigspike died and went to Heaven. He had lost all of his strength. Feeling sorry for Fishy Bigspike, the members of the Holy Alliance each gave 80% of their strength to him. 

So, Fishy Bigspike became extremely powerful and popular with the original members of the Holy Alliance. As a result, he started to lead the Holy Alliance, becoming the ruler of Heaven and replacing God. Now, the ruler of Heaven a.k.a God was Fishy Bigspike, the ruler of Earth a.k.a King of Belgium was Sharky and the Devil a.k.a the ruler of hell was Homework. Now Fishy Bigspike, Lizzy and Sharky, the three friends, ruled three opposing realms. However, repenting for his sins, Homework began to follow the path toward enlightenment. He became free from his sin and destroyed Hell using his powers. He became a disciple of Fishy Bigspike, or God. This process took a billion years. By that time, a gigantic asteroid had collided into the Earth, killing Sharky, who became a member of the Holy Alliance and a disciple of Fishy Bigspike upon his death.

With tens of thousands of disciples and ( almost ) the whole solar system and universe under his control, Fishy Bigspike was ready to bring Mars and Europa under his control.

( Mars and Europa were the only planets hosting life in the whole universe at that time ) under his control, Fishy Bigspike was ready to explore Mars and Europa, the only parts of the universe not under his control, since there was no life outside of the solar system.

In three weeks, Fishy Bigspike reached Mars. He was horrified to find 100 Martians there. Three Martians opened fire on the Holy Alliance, killing three saints, but the heavenly powers of the tens of thousands of disciples of Fishy Bigspike brought the three saints back to life while killing ten Martians who were nearby. This angered the other Martians, who formed a huge mob that fought a fierce battle with the Holy Alliance. The Martians were repelled repeatedly by the Holy Alliance, which killed another 50 Martians. The death toll reached 80 after Fishy Bigspike exposed another 30 Martians hiding in bomb shelters. Another 10 Martians threw fireballs at the Holy Alliance’s members, killing a demigod, whose spirit split into ten spirits. Each of these ten spirits entered the bodies of Martians. These ten possessed Martians killed 5 more Martians while an artillery shower from the Holy Alliance killed another 8 Martians. The remaining 4 Martians retreated in the direction of their de facto capital, which housed the royal palace. The Martian Royal Palace had already suffered significant damage due to the artillery shower, but still stood tall. 2 Martians were killed by artillery while retreating, so the other 2 Martians hid, using the grass as cover, but one of the Martians in hiding could not camouflage properly and was shot point - blank with a rifle owned by Fishy Bigspike himself. The rifle was made from 100% pure 24 carat solid gold, but it was charged with heavenly power and worked like a charm. The last Martian alive surrendered, on the promise of helping the Holy Alliance locate and kill the ruler of Mars, who was none other than the man in the lab coat. The Martian led the members of the Holy Alliance into the throne room of the Martian Royal Palace, where Fishy Bigspike, in the disguise of Demise, ruler of Europa, stabbed the ruler of Mars with a heavenly bayonet, killing him and bringing Mars under the de facto control of the Heavenly Alliance. Fishy Bigspike then found out that Demise was preparing to build a royal palace in Jupiter, where she would found a Europan settlement by the name of New Europa.  

Chapter 9- Fishy Bigspike, the supreme power

Demise’s palace settlement in Io, meanwhile, was halfway completed. Before heading towards Europa with the rest of the Holy Alliance, Fishy Bigspike installed the last Martian as the new King of Mars.

Fishy Bigspike travelled through space for 6 months and 18 days before reaching Europa. Knowing that life was the weakness of Demise, he set life upon Demise. Life ate Demise alive and digested her remains to form a new hell, the Second Hell. Demise’s disciples were tortured in New Hell. All of her disciples died in the Second Hell, except for one, who became a disciple of Fishy Bigspike over a thousand years. However, the consequences of killing Demise soon began to take effect as all living things became immortal. Fishy Bigspike did not want the last Martian and the last European to be immortal, so he created Earth again, and banished them there, ending their immortality. Just like Adam and Eve, they worked hard to grow their own food. The last Martian and the last European were named by God. The last Martian was named Marti and the last Europan was named Europi.

Marti and Europi had one child, a son by the name of Maropi. He was the last inhabitant of the Second Earth. As Marti and Europi were the monarchical rulers of the Second Earth when they were alive, Maropi led the Second Earth’s only monarchy after both his parents died. He was lonely, so God gave him Homework as a companion. However, Homework was not banished to Earth, so he did not lose his heavenly immortality. After Maropi died, the Second Earth was crushed by a heavenly bull along with Mars and Europa to form dust. The dust collected to form a new planet that was flattened by Fishy Bigspike’s personal roller. This flattened planet was used as an extension of Heaven, which became two times bigger as a result. With such a huge Heaven to live in and the entire Universe under his rule, Fishy Bigspike was happy with his everlasting life. 

However, Fishy soon grew bored of his life and created the Earth again, that would come to be known as the Third Earth, which has its own stories to tell that you will read about in the next book: The Fishy Chronicles Earth Duology Book 2: A New Nation.
