Country: Sao Tome and Principe

Committee: Global Committee for Sustainable Energy

Topic: Stopping energy shortages in Sao Tome and Principe

Energy shortages are a major problem in Sao Tome and Principe. Hydropower and solar energy is being produced in Sao Tome and Principe at high rates, with wind energy barely being produced in the nation.

Last year, Sao Tome and Principe owned 0.00% of World GDP.

If Sao Tome and Principe can already generate hydropower and solar energy at high rates, stretching Sao Tome's economy to generate wind energy should not be a major issue- with better governmental funding.

I believe that one way to make Sao Tome and Principe wealthier is to boost tourism by preventing floods.

To prevent floods, dams need to built in Sao Tome Island.

A fund, called the Sao Tome Dam Building Fund ( STDB Fund ) should be set up to build dams in Sao Tome Island.

Countries donating to the fund could be allowed to buy land across the nation, excluding the island of Sao Tome.

This could result in Sao Tome and Principe losing as much as 26% of its beaches, damaging tourism while allowing it to flourish in other aspects as tourism would increase in the beaches of Sao Tome Island, teh main island of Sao tome and principe.

To ensure that the government of Sao Tome does not misuse the money in the STDB fund, 10 UN officials can be deployed to Sao Tome to oversee the construction of dams in Sao Tome and the management of the STDB fund.

This is the first MUN resolution that I would like to pass regarding Ending energy shortages in Sao Tome and Principe.
