After a long and costly war with the Spanish, Bolivia gained independence on 6 August 1825 by Simón Bolívar in Sucre, one of the capitals of Bolivia along with La Paz.'
Majority of Bolivians are Catholic Mestizos, but about a fifth of Bolivia's population is made up of indigenous tribes including the Quechua and Aymara, among many others. These indigenous tribes have their own flag and several of their languages are official languages of Bolivia. The flag of Bolivia's indigenous community is known as the Wiphala and is flown alongside the national flag. However, Spanish is the most widely spoken language in the country.
Something unique about Bolivia is that it is the only country in the world that has Andean New Year a.k.a Aymara New Year as one of its public holidays.
Corn, potatoes, quinoa, beans, rice, wheat, beef, and pork are common ingredients in Bolivian cuisine. Some Bolivian culinary specialities include Fricasé, Pique macho (beef, sausages, onions, peppers, egg and fries topped with sauce, Saltenas and Silpancho.

The tricolour flag is the civil flag of Bolivia while the flag with 7 colours is the national flag of Bolivia otherwise known as the Wiphala.
