Peru gained independence from the Spanish Empire in 1826 after a long war that lasted 17 years. The nation has seen 9 civil wars and is currently facing its tenth civil war, which has lasted for more than 2 decades. As of 2023, it is the longest civil war in Peruvian history and also the second - longest civil war in South America history, overtaken only by the ongoing Colombian confict.


Majority of Peruvians are Catholic Mestizos, like the other Bolivarian nations.


Spanish, Quechua and Aymara are the official languages of this nation.


Corn, potatoes, seeds, spinach and legumes are major staples of Peruvian cuisine.

Flag of the Inca Empire ( an ancient empire that existed in modern - day Peru )

The Inca Empire existed until 1533, when it was annexed by the Spain and incorporated into its empire.
